Hanger Bolts feature a lag screw thread to install into wood, with an exterior machine screw thread to accept the fixture, followed by the washer and wing nut to keep everything in place. This kit includes a 1/4"-20 power bit to make installing the hanger bolts a breeze. All hardware in this kit is corrosion and rust resistant 18-8 stainless steel. Hurricane Hardware Stainless Steel Hanger Bolts with Installation Bit, Fender Washers and Wing Nuts Hanger Bolts Hanger Bolts in this kit are made of 18-8 stainless steel and are 1/4 inch in diameter. These hanger bolts are 3 inches long and feature 1-1/2 inches of lag screw thread on one side, and 1-1/2 inches of 1/4"-20 machine screw thread on the other. The lag thread portion is anchored into wood, while the exposed machine screw thread is paired with a nut to attach fixtures such as panels, boards, or shutters. 18-8 Stainless Steel Hardware Wing Nuts are commonly used with hanger bolts because they can be installed or removed by hand. This kit also includes large diameter fender washers to prevent pull through and increase the holding strength of the fastener assembly. All Bolts and washers in this kit are made from durable and rust resistant 18-8 stainless steel, ideal for applications exposed to the elements. Hanger Bolt Installation Bit Hanger bolts have no head, which make them difficult to drive into wood without a special tool. In this kit we have included a matching installation bit that can be used with most cordless drills and features a 1/4 inch power bit shank. The machine threads of the bolt are threaded into the bit, and then the lag portion of the bolt is driven into the wood.
